Just because nuclear weapons have not been detonated in anger since Nagasaki, that provides little evidence that a child born today -- with roughly an 80 year life expectancy -- will live out his or her natural life. While I was aware of most of what you wrote here, the way you weaved it together made a much stronger impression than the individual facts. You make a very important point when you say, &quot;What I wish to focus on here is the fact that the [nuclear] threats are occurring, with little domestic opposition, and what that discloses about the past, present, and future of the nuclear era.&quot; Where is the moral outrage? Even more to the point, where are the voices pointing out, as you do, that such threats almost guarantee proliferation which increases the risk we bear. Thank you!</description>
